       she wasn’t supposed to be in the lab after dark, she knew that, but.. sometimes you needed to break the rules in order to do some good! it wasn’t the first time she’d bent the rules, and she was sure it... wouldn’t be the last. it was just until the semester was over, she was sure it would be fine. rubbing her fingers underneath her glasses, honey let out a tired sigh, but sat herself down at her station. she knew superhero duties had put all of her friends behind with their work --- saving the city was stressful, but... she had her job to deal with too, plus yoga and tennis, not to mention keeping up with her sticker parties!

        fighting back as yawn, honey scribbled a few more notes into her notebook before a sound caught her off-guard. it almost sounded like footsteps, and the chemist turned quickly, her eyes wide and her heartbeat picking up in pace. 

       “   hello? is --- is someone there?   ”

      paris really was everything honey had ever dreamed it would be. it was her first trip, and the thought of studying in a french university for six months was both terrifying and exhilarating. She’d still wanted to work on her boutique while she was out here, so she kept her sketchpad close to her chest, turning briefly when she spotted the arc de triomphe. now there was a pretty sight. stepping back slightly, honey opened up her phone’s camera to try to take a good picture. 

    pursing her lips, she stepped back one more time, only for her back to hit into someone solid, and she paused before quickly jumping forward, turning quickly.

    “   ah, whoops! so sorry -- or.. no, it’s.. pardon!   ”

   honey was what some would call the mystic of her tribe --- she saw that as nonsense. there was nothing magic in the cures she offered her people, nor in the strange smoke that flooded from her hut almost every she was a woman of discovery, of studying and curiosity, not of magic. still, her work had earned her many friends in the village, so she was content to let them believe what they will. 

    she had needed some more herbs for her experiments --- constant usage had left her running low in supplies, so she’d made her trek out to the woods, humming to herself as she followed her typical trail to the open cove where she found many of her ingredients, only to fall still at the sight of not just a dragon, but another human, in the cove. her eyes widened, and she pushed herself into the rocks to not be seen, peering over curiously. 

   “   a dragon rider?   ”
